Shaquita Smith is stepping into an adventurous new role as the star and producer of the upcoming indie action film Voyage of the Forgotten, reported Deadline. The project promises a mix of danger, intrigue, and high-stakes adventure as Smith plays a young historian on a quest to locate a long-lost ship filled with gold. The journey, however, takes a dark turn as deception and betrayal threaten her every step. The film, penned by The Changers screenwriter Malcom Ali, is set to begin production in the U.K. in late spring 2025 under TreeHouse Productions. Smith, best known for her work on AMC’s Wicked City, continues to build a diverse career that spans action, drama, and romance. She recently starred in BET+’s My Valentine Crush, where her character finds herself re-evaluating love after an unexpected connection with an internet technician, played by Travis Cure. The film also features Jeff Logan in a key role. With a background that includes training at Troy State University in Alabama and competing in Miss Georgia USA, Smith’s range extends beyond acting. She has also appeared in acclaimed TV series like New Amsterdam, NCIS: New Orleans, and Survivor’s Remorse. Smith is represented by Exclusive Talent, Untamed Artists, and Wonder Street.
