The much-anticipated second season of The Rig is set to premiere globally on Prime Video on 2 January, 2025. The announcement comes alongside the release of an official trailer and a star-studded special screening at The Everyman in Edinburgh, Scotland, where the cast reunited to celebrate the show’s return. Returning favorites Iain Glen, Martin Compston, Emily Hampshire, Rochenda Sandall, and Mark Addy join an expanded ensemble cast that includes Ross Anderson, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, and Alice Krige. At the screening, Martin Compston shared his excitement, calling it “one of the greatest jobs to have been part of” and promising fans, “I really think this new series has stepped up this time, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.” The second season dives deeper into the thrilling saga of the Kinloch Bravo crew, now stranded at a new offshore facility called the Stac, set in the perilous Arctic Circle. As they navigate the aftermath of a catastrophic tsunami and face new dangers from the depths of the ocean, the crew is pulled into a web of conspiracies, corporate power struggles, and the controversial frontier of deep-sea mining. The series continues to intertwine urgent global themes with gripping storytelling, offering viewers spectacular settings and thought-provoking drama.
