Harlan Coben’s highly anticipated Netflix series, Run Away, has announced its impressive cast, featuring James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, and Minnie Driver in leading roles. The sprawling ensemble also includes Alfred Enoch, Lucian Msamati, Jon Pointing, Ellie de Lange, Adrian Greensmith, Ellie Henry, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Annette Badland, Ingrid Oliver, Maeve Courtier-Lilley, Finty Williams, Joe McGann, and Amy Gledhill.
The eight-episode thriller follows Simon, portrayed by Nesbitt, whose life unravels after his daughter Paige (de Lange) runs away. When Simon finds her in a city park, strung out on drugs, an argument spirals into violence, leading to a devastating loss. His search to bring her back takes him into a dark and dangerous underworld, where secrets are uncovered that threaten to tear his family apart.
Filming for the series is set to begin in the U.K. this month. Coben expressed his excitement about the stellar cast, said, “Jimmy Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Alfred Enoch, Lucian Msamati and Minnie Driver — the cast is an embarrassment of riches. I can’t wait to start filming.”
Run Away marks the latest adaptation of Coben’s work for Netflix, with the author set to executive produce the show through his Final Twist Productions. Danny Brocklehurst, who serves as the lead writer, will also executive produce. The series is being produced by Quay Street Productions, a part of ITV Studios.
Coben has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Netflix, with several of his novels already adapted for the platform, including Missing You, Fool Me Once, Gone for Good, The Stranger, Stay Close, The Innocent, Hold Tight, The Woods, and Safe. In addition to Run Away, his upcoming Netflix projects include Caught, Just One Look, and I Will Find You, marking his first U.S. production.
