A teaser trailer for FX’s highly anticipated sci-fi horror series Alien: Earth dropped during the AFC Championship game, offering a glimpse of the chaos and terror that awaits as a mysterious spaceship crash-lands on Earth. From the mind of Noah Hawley, the series serves as a prequel to the iconic 1979 film Alien and is set two years before its events.

The show’s synopsis sets the stage for a thrilling and deadly confrontation. “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat,” according to the synopsis. As the recovery crew investigates the wreckage, they come across life forms more terrifying than they could have imagined, unleashing a nightmare that could alter the fate of the planet.

Sydney Chandler leads the cast, joined by Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.

Noah Hawley teased the Xenomorph’s Earthly debut in an interview with Deadline, said “There’s something about seeing a Xenomorph in the wilds of Earth with your own eyes. That is truly chilling to think of it moving here among us, and so I can’t tell you under what circumstances you’ll see that, but you’ll see it — and you’re going to lock your door that night.”

Hawley also shared insights into his approach to designing the fearsome creatures, ensuring their iconic silhouette remains untouched while exploring creative tweaks to enhance their terror. “What was really fun for me was to really engage with the creature, bring some of my own thoughts to the design while not touching the silhouette, because that’s sacrosanct. But some of the elements, as we know, whatever the host is informs what the final creature is. I just wanted to play around a little bit to make it as scary as it should be,” he explained.
