Broadcaster Laura McGhie will host a new overnight show (1am-5am) on BBC Radio 5 Live on Friday, Saturday and Sundays Laura’s first show will go out on Friday 18 April and will be broadcast from Pacific Quay, Glasgow. The new show will also be heard by audiences across all 39 BBC local radio stations in England as well as BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Ulster / Foyle in Northern Ireland. Laura joins overnight legend Dotun Adebayo who has been at the helm for nearly two decades and will continue to present the show Monday to Thursday. 5 Live is the ‘Voice of the UK’ bringing the most entertaining conversation, compelling news stories and diverse opinions to millions of listeners across the country every week. Laura is already a familiar voice to audiences as she regularly presents on Breakfast, Drive, and Weekend Breakfast for the station. Based in Pacific Quay, Glasgow, Laura also broadcasts for BBC One Scotland, BBC Scotland News at Seven and can be heard on BBC Radio Scotland. She says: “It’s been a joy working across 5 Live for the last five years, and to be part of a brand-new programme is really exciting. I’m genuinely thrilled to join the overnight team. I know how important radio is to our overnight listeners and I can’t wait to be part of that community.” Dotun’s show will continue to be broadcast from London and still feature his usual blend of engaging conversations, insightful interviews, the latest news, and, of course, audience interaction.
