An evening of art, reflection and dialogue unfolded in the capital as Arth Art International hosted an Artist Talk titled ‘Journey with the Divine Flow’, centred on diplomat-artist Jayant K’s ongoing solo exhibition at Travancore Palace Gallery. The event brought together an exhibition walkthrough followed by a conversation with Jyoti A. Kathpalia, Associate Professor and art curator, offering audiences a deeper entry point into the philosophical and aesthetic layers of Jayant K’s work. The gathering drew prominent names from the art and cultural fraternity, including Guru Ranjana Gauhar, Ustad Wasiffudin Dagar, and several other artists, curators and patrons, signalling strong engagement with the exhibition’s thematic depth. Curated by Gargi Seth, the exhibition features 45 works and remains open to the public until 5 April, presenting a body of work shaped by the artist’s experiences across cultures and geographies during his long career in the Indian Foreign Service. Jayant K’s practice, largely self-taught, emerges from a space of movement and introspection. His works traverse landscapes, figurative compositions and sacred iconography, bound together by a search for meaning and continuity amid displacement. His visual language reflects an ongoing dialogue between memory, observation and instinct. The exhibition is structured around three interwoven themes—nature, rhythm and the divine icon. Nature is not merely depicted but experienced as a living, contemplative presence. Rhythmic elements drawn from dance and music introduce a sense of motion, while sacred imagery rooted in Indian traditions and their Southeast Asian resonances anchor the works in a spiritual framework. Speaking about his work, Jayant K said, “Nature, for me, is where the divine first reveals itself—petal by petal, leaf by leaf, in a language that is quiet yet profound. In its rhythms, I begin to hear a deeper music that flows into movement and dance, where the body becomes a vessel of that unseen energy. Through divine forms, I attempt to give that presence a shape—something we can recognise, revere, and connect with.” He further added, “My work moves through these three realms—nature, rhythm, and the sacred form—as a continuous journey. It is a way of seeking meaning, allowing the finite to reach towards the infinite, and realising that the divine is not distant, but present within and around us.” Expanding on the intent behind the dialogue, Jyoti A. Kathpalia said, “This conversation seeks to move beyond the canvas, delving into the many layers within Jayant K’s work—from the quiet presence of the divine in nature to the rhythm and movement animating his figures. It aims to open up his artistic journey, processes, and philosophical threads, creating a space for reflection and deeper engagement.” Sushil Shrivastwa, CEO of Arth Art International and Founder of Asian Art Diversity, highlighted the immersive approach of the event. “With ‘Journey with the Divine Flow’, we envisioned an experience that extends beyond viewing art to truly engaging with it. Jayant K’s works are deeply introspective, and this dialogue adds a meaningful dimension, offering audiences a more immersive way to connect with the themes of nature, rhythm, and the divine.” Currently serving as India’s Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, Jayant K continues to balance diplomacy with artistic exploration. With over three decades in service and 15 solo exhibitions across India and internationally, his work reflects a sustained engagement with both global cultures and inner landscapes. The exhibition, while rooted in personal and spiritual inquiry, ultimately invites viewers into a shared space of contemplation—where the boundaries between the material and the metaphysical begin to dissolve.
