In a move that secures the future of one of podcasting’s most influential comedy franchises, SiriusXM has signed a new multi-year agreement with Scott Aukerman for his long-running podcast Comedy Bang! Bang!.

According to Deadline exclusive, SiriusXM will continue producing, distributing and exclusively handling advertising sales for the show under the three-year extension by ion, which has also become a flagship title within the company’s podcast portfolio.

First launched in 2009 under the title Comedy Death-Ray Radio, the podcast evolved into Comedy Bang! Bang! and quickly established itself as a pioneering force in comedy audio. Known for blending celebrity interviews, improvisational comedy, recurring characters and surreal humor, the show has helped shape the modern comedy podcast landscape.

Over the years, Aukerman has welcomed a rotating lineup of comedians, actors and fictional characters into the show’s unpredictable universe. Frequent contributors have included Paul F. Tompkins, Jason Mantzoukas, Lauren Lapkus, Adam Scott, Ego Nwodim, Nick Kroll and Bob Odenkirk, among many others.

The podcast continues to draw a sizable audience, generating roughly 10 million downloads annually. Its success has also expanded beyond audio, spawning multiple spin-off podcasts, a New York Times bestselling book and a television adaptation that ran for five seasons on Comedy Bang! Bang!.

Aukerman marked the renewal with his trademark humor, said, “When I started this show seventeen years ago, I had a dream: to extend my contract with Sirius XM Holdings, Inc. in 2026 for an additional three years,” Aukerman further joked. “Now it’s finally coming true, and the 12-year-old me would have been very proud.”

The new agreement ensures that the podcast will remain on the air through its milestone 20th season, further cementing its place among the longest-running comedy podcasts in the world.

Adam Sachs, Senior Vice President of Podcast Content at SiriusXM, praised the show’s enduring impact on the medium. “Scott and the Comedy Bang! Bang! team have built one of the most enduring and influential franchises in podcasting — not to mention completely redefining what comedy podcasting can sound like,” said Sachs. “17 years into its run and Scott’s interviews with ‘interesting people’ remain the gold standard in improv comedy podcasts. ‘All joking a salad,’ we look forward to more years of unhinged fun with Scott and his guests,” added Sachs.

The podcast is produced by Jeff Fox and executive produced by Codi Fischer. New episodes will continue to debut every Monday on the SiriusXM app and major podcast platforms, while bonus episodes will be released each Thursday through the show’s feed.

The renewal underscores SiriusXM’s ongoing investment in premium podcast content as competition for listeners continues to intensify across the audio entertainment industry.
