LIVE COMMENTARY: Brazil vs Peru – Copa America 2015

After a humiliating ending to the World Cup 2014, Brazil, under the leadership of Neymar Jr, is set to come out to restore its pride in its own continent. Peru, with its resilient nature, is ready to show its strength and zeal against a giant.
With the aggressiveness and zeal of the South American game in view, this game will sure be worthy watch.

Brazil Starting XI : Jefferson, Dani Alves, Miranda, David Luiz, Filipe Luis, Fernandinho, Elias, Neymar, Fred, Willian, Tardelli.

Peru Starting XI : Pedro Gallese, Carlos Zambrano, Juan Vargas, Luis Advincula, Carlos Ascues, Christian Cueva, Jefferson Farfan, Carlos Lobaton, Joel Sanchez, Josepmir Ballon, Jose Paolo Guerrero.

And the match has kicked off.

2′ – Horrible error by Jefferson that paved way for Cuevas to calmly net it in. His first international goal for his nation. Brazil already chasing the game.

BRA 0-1 PER

4′ – Neymar heads in the ball perfectly from that perfectly beautiful cross by Dani Alves. Brazil responds to the Peru goal with a bang.

BRA 1-1 PER

7′ – A dangerous challenge by Miranda on Guerrero inside the penalty area. Almost deadly for the team but happened just right.

9′ – Good play by Neymar to pass the ball on to Fred who goes for the strike and Gallese makes a good strong save.

10′ – Willian passes it on well to Neymar who’s shot goes wide.

12′ – Tardelli’s half kicked strike falls on for Neymar who almost nets it in but that excellently got blocked by Ballon. Excellent defence on the line.

13′ – Some very good combination passes happening between Brazil’s front line players.

15′ – Luiz’s foul on Farfan as their heads collides getting Peru a free kick that’s easily handled by Jefferson.

17′ – A good run by Tardelli which is well read by Gallese who comes off his line and puts the ball away.

19′ – A good pass by Alves to Tardelli who’s completely unmarked in the penalty area but heads it over the bar. Loose defence by Peru.

22′ – Peru with some quick passes on the front to launch a strong attack on Brazil’s defence but the Brazilian defence was resilient.

24′ – Cuevas looks like a bright strong attacker from Peru’s side every time he’s with the ball. 

25′ – Peru establishing itself as a physical team who’s game seems to be very physical and aggressive.

The Peru supporters backing their team collectively and loudly as the stadium is filled with Peru chants.

29′ – Guerrero yellow carded for his foul on Dani Alves just outside the Brazilian penalty area. 

32′ – With Brazil down to 10 men currently with Alves at the line receiving the treatment, Peru try to attack hard and benefit from the situation.

34′ – Dani Alves back in action.

35′ – Willian with a good pass from the right but unable to find anyone on the front.

37′ – Brazil with some good movement going forward but unable to make a final effort as Peru pushes people back for defence.

38′ – A good effort on target by Farfan that is saved comfortably by Jefferson.

40′ – A wonderful through ball by Neymar to Filipe Luis who turns out to go for a shot himself and is unable to finish it. Passing on to Tardelli would have been a better option for Filipe Luis.

43′ – Peru do well with the ball going forward but at the end, Brazilian defence handles it and launches a counter attack by passing it to Neymar who finds himself isolated and surrounded by Peru defence but does well to get a free kick outside the penalty area.

45+1′ – Neymar takes the free kick but goes over the ball. It was never really dipping at the right time.

Half time: An intense and action-packed half which saw Peru stamping the scoreboard first that Brazil responded to quickly. Later minutes belonged more to Brazil as they saw more of the ball and better chances.

The second half kicks off.

46′ – Peru pressurising Brazil well early in the second half.

47′ – Ascues hurt by an unintentional foul on him by Tardelli.

51′ – Good defending by Brazil as Guerrero looking to net the ball.

52′ – Neymar with a brilliant strike that hits the post to his absolute bad luck.

55′ – David Luiz takes the free kick earned by Neymar but hits it well over the bar.

58′ – Filipe Luis gets a yellow card.

59′ – A fabulous ball by Willian in front of the goal post but nobody is able to make use of it.

60′ – Some good individual dribbling skill shown by Advincula.

65′ – Some pacy end to end action currently happening. 

  • Sub(BRA) : Douglas Costa comes on for Tardelli

68′ – Good ball play between Neymar, Willian and Dani Alves.

72′ – Peru seeing more of the ball at the moment and look fiercer going forward.

74′ – A superb counter attack from Brazil out of Peru free kick as Neymar ran rigorously but Douglas Costa missed the strike at the end.

  • Sub(BRA) : Firmino on. Fred off.

78′ – Good strong build up by Guerrero forward but handled calmly by Brazil defence.

80′ – Some good skill and trick play by Brazil to help them go forward.

  • Double Sub(PER) : Reyna comes on for Cueva. Carrillo on for Farfan.

82′ – Vargas gets a yellow card for his foul on Douglas Costa.

84′ – A good close chance for Neymar but his movement was very well read by Gallese.

  • Sub(BRA) : Willian out. Everton Rebeiro in.
  • Sub(PER) : Yotun on for Vargas.

89′ – Brazil again left a fraction away from getting the second goal as a short from Neymar is well blocked by Peru.

90+2′ – Douglas Costa calmly nets in from what was a superb pass from Neymar.

  • BRA 2-1 PER

Full time: Brazil snatch the game in the stoppage time as Neymar scored the equaliser and made the winner. An absolute heartbreak for Peru but a hard worked win for Brazil. Superb game!
