Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019) has broken the record for the grandest six-day opening for a Tuesday release. This is even more impressive considering the fact that it is a sequel and as we have seen in the past few years, it can sometimes be a struggle for sequels to keep up in box office. But FFH has proven to everyone that Marvel are still the keepers of the keys as it is now at the top position in the weekend box office. In second place, Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 4 is sat comfortable after bringing in $306.6 million in just three weeks of being released. Third is Danny Boyle’s Yesterday, fourth is Annabelle Come Home and fifth is long-standing box office favourite Disney’s Aladdin! Starting on the Tuesday of last week, it rolled into the weekend in a bed of $91 million. But by the end of the six days, it has already climbed to over $185 million. As we mentioned, it’s already broken a record but in film history, it is the 22nd largest six day performance to date and the 2nd widest opening ever following its debut in 4,634 locations. It’s clear from these figures that the audience are happy with the new Marvel release and so are the critics! It is currently sat with an 8.1/10 rating on IMDb and an ‘A’ CinemaScore. Midsommar (2019) has also broken the record for the largest indie opening of the year but hasn’t quite broken the top five for the weekend box office just yet.
