Leonardo DiCaprio Weighs in on Titanic ‘Door Controversy’!

Leonardo DiCaprio has finally spoken out about the ongoing controversy and joke surrounding Titanic about whether Jack could have fit on that door and survived with Rose who was sat happily atop of it. One of the final scenes of the disaster film showed Rose floating on a door in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean while Jack clung onto the side for dear life (literally). It is sadly revealed to the audience that while the couple were waiting for help, Jack froze to death. To get away, Rose has to let his body sink to the bottom of the ocean.

This scene, however sad, left many fans wondering whether Jack could have fit atop of the door with Rose and survived instead of freezing. There are many that believe that he could have; even the Mythbusters tested it themselves using a door to see if it could have happened. Neil deGrasse Tyson, a physicist praised for his work also said that there was no way that Jack’s survival instinct wouldn’t have kicked in and that he wouldn’t have fought harder to get atop of the door – despite his ‘true love’ for Rose. The director, James Cameron, has always stood firm by his decision for the ending.

One person who has never spoken out about it before, however, is Leo himself. In a recent interview with MTV News while promoting Once Upon A Time in Hollywood (2019), the actor was asked about the door theory and all he replied with (multiple times) was ‘no comment’. Even when pushed by his co-stars, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, the actor refused to give his opinion. So we’ll lay in wait! Just like Jack did!
