Jason Momoa is due to star in a Netflix revenge thriller that will be released on the streaming site. It will be called ‘Sweet Girl’ and will be directed by Brian Andrew Mendoza who will be making a directorial debut with this film. The producer previous worked with Momoa on survival thriller ‘Braven’ and Netflix’s series ‘Frontier’.
Momoa will be portraying the role of a widower who is struggling to come to terms with his wife’s death and decides to act on it. He decides that he will hunt those who were responsible for the death – all while being a good father to his daughter.
Momoa stated, “I’m excited to partner with Netflix once again. I’m putting a dream team together from Brad and Jeff to my best friend, Brian, who has been my partner for over 10 years. It’s a dream come true to collaborate with him and deliver his vision.”
The screenplay is written by Philip Eisner and Gregg Hurwitz with any additions by Will Staples.
The producer said, “Brad and I are ecstatic about bringing another project to Netflix, who have truly made us feel like we have a home to make groundbreaking original features and series. Additionally, Jason and Brian are like family, so to re-team with them on a movie after working for three seasons of Frontier, is a dream come true. When we first read this script, we knew there was only one actor who could bring the gravitas and depth to the role of Cooper, and that’s Jason. And this is the perfect vehicle for Brian to make his directorial debut.”
