The sci-fi novel by Marcus Sakey is coming to the big screen and is going to be carefully handled by Will Smith and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman. The pair previously worked together on other sci-fi works such as ‘I Am Legend’ and ‘I, Robot’.

The novel is set in a universe where one percent of the entire population were born with special powers since the year 1980. The success of the book lead to it becoming a trilogy.

Will is due to play the lead who is federal agent Nick Cooper. His job role is to keep an eye on those special individuals who have extraordinary gifts otherwise known as the Brilliants. However, he has his own gift which is extremely helpful for an agent – he can read body language and predict people’s moves before they take place.

Will is riding on the success of ‘Aladdin’ which is his first film to have reached $1 billion in the box office. But if you can’t wait for the Brilliance adaptation then he has two new releases on the way, ‘Gemini Man’ in October and ‘Bad Boys for Life’ in January.
