Netflix’s ‘Beef’ is all the rage right now. Winning massively at the Emmys, the series’ writer, director, and producer said that there are so many paths, hinting at whether the viewers will get a second season or not. Weighing in on whether the series credits a second one, creator Lee Sung Jin said, “It could be an anthology.” “I feel like there are so many paths,” the writer-director-producer said backstage at the Emmys. “It could stay limited — it was a very close-ended story for sure. But if Netflix wanted to continue, it could also be anthology. It could be many things. It’s up to the great algorithm. We’re all waiting to hear,” he continued. Back in November 2023, Lee signed a multi-year film and TV deal with Netflix. Not only at the Emmys, but the creator was also asked the same question at the Golden Globes, to which he answered, “We always pitched the season to buyers as an anthology series. There was always going to be new characters. Whether it stays limited or turns as an anthology or we continue existing, that’s really up to Netflix. But whatever they decide, I’m definitely ready.” Beef stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong have won big, sweeping acting awards at the Emmys, Golden Globes, and Critics Choice Awards. At the Emmys, Beef won a total of eight awards, at the Golden Globes, the series won three trophies, and at the Critics Choice Awards, it won all the four categories it was nominated for.
