Jennifer Coolidge is currently experiencing something of a career renaissance after her Emmys win for her role in the hit HBO series ‘The White Lotus’. She has now joined Jason Momoa and Jack Black in the upcoming Minecraft movie. The film is currently being shot in New Zealand, Deadline reported. The movie is expected to be released in 2025.

Coolidge’s addition to the Minecraft cast comes two weeks after Jack Black confirmed his own casting via an Instagram post. He uploaded a picture of himself reading ‘Minecraft for dummies’ and captioned it “an actor prepares’.

Little is known about the upcoming Warner Bros. Minecraft project. While the screenwriting credits still haven’t been finalised, filmmaker Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) will be directing the film. Other cast include Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple) and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.

This will not be the first time that Coolidge will be working with Hess. earlier she voiced a role on the 2012 Fox Napoleon Dynamite animated series. Coolidge won her second Emmy for reprising the role of Tanya, a wealthy businesswoman, in The White Lotus’ second season.

She also won an Emmy in 2022 for her work on the show’s first season. Apart from the Emmys, she also received a Golden Globe Award, two Critics’ Choice Television Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for playing Tanya.

Coolidge thanked The White Lotus’ creator Mike White for “giving me this opportunity to play this incredible character.” “I wanna thank all the evil gays,” she jokingly added, before saying: “I had a little dream in my little town and everyone said it was impractical and far-fetched, but it did happen after all. So don’t give up on your dream.”
