The nominees for the upcoming BAFTA Scotland Audience Award 2024, in partnership with Screen Scotland, have been revealed, and public voting is now open. This is the only category at the BAFTA Scotland Awards where the winner is chosen by the public, with six talented Scottish stars nominated for their standout contributions to television over the past year. The nominees include Abby Cook for Blue Peter, Richard Gadd for Baby Reindeer, Ncuti Gatwa for Doctor Who, Jack Lowden for Slow Horses, Ashley Storrie for Dinosaur, and David Tennant, also for Doctor Who. All six have been recognized for creating significant cultural moments and leaving an impact on audiences across Scotland and beyond. Jude MacLaverty, Director of BAFTA Scotland, praised the nominees for their work: “The six nominees announced today have captured our nation’s attention creating ‘watercooler’ moments through their work and performances on our TV screens. All six nominees have inspired, entertained, and educated audiences over the past year. Now it’s over to you, the public, to vote for YOUR favourite Scot on Screen from this past year. Get voting!” The voting is open until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, 30 October, and the winner will be revealed at the BAFTA Scotland Awards ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, 17 November, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central. Previous winners of the Audience Award include Lawrence Chaney for RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Sam Heughan for Outlander, and Lauren Lyle for Karen Pirie. In addition to being live-streamed on YouTube, an edited highlights program of the ceremony will air on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer on Wednesday, 20 November. The BAFTA Scotland Awards 2024 are supported by sponsors and partners, including BBC Scotland, Screen Scotland, Channel 4, and Deloitte, among others. Tickets for the event are now available on BAFTA’s official website.
