Steven Knight, the mastermind behind the globally beloved Peaky Blinders, recently hinted that the Shelby family’s story is far from over. Speaking with the U.K.’s Times Radio, Knight confirmed that production on the much-anticipated spinoff film wrapped just before the holidays. While no official release date has been announced, Knight suggested fans could expect the movie within the next year. “It’s a bit too soon for that, but you know, you can sort of work out that it will be about a year,” Knight shared when pressed about the release timeline. However, the biggest revelation came when Knight addressed the possibility of more Peaky Blinders content beyond the film. “It won’t be the end, let me put it that way,” he teased cryptically. While he refrained from confirming whether fans could expect another series or film, his comments strongly suggest that the Shelby family’s story is far from concluded. The upcoming movie, which sees Cillian Murphy reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby, promises to delve deeper into the Shelby universe. Joining Murphy on screen are stars Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Stephen Graham, the latter returning as Hayden Stagg from the BBC series’ sixth season. Principal photography began in the U.K. in late September, with glimpses from the set already sparking excitement among fans. The Peaky Blinders series may have ended in April 2022 after six intense seasons, but it left the door wide open for more. Knight previously hinted that the film would explore England during World War II, expanding on the show’s crime-ridden narrative that initially began in the 1920s. While plot specifics remain under wraps, the anticipation for this Netflix and BBC collaboration continues to build.
