Netflix and AGBO are expanding their successful collaboration with The Whisper Man, a psychological thriller starring Robert De Niro. The film, based on Alex North’s New York Times bestselling novel, follows a widowed crime writer whose eight-year-old son is abducted. Seeking help from his estranged father—a retired detective—he soon uncovers a chilling link to a decades-old case involving a convicted serial killer known as “The Whisper Man.” James Ashcroft will direct the adaptation, with a script by Ben Jacoby and Chase Palmer. Production is set to begin this spring on the East Coast. The project is being produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco for AGBO, with Kassee Whiting and Marcus Viscidi serving as executive producers. “AGBO is excited to be embarking on our 6th film with our incredible partners at Netflix. The Whisper Man is a gripping thriller but at its core is a poignant and complex story of father and sons. We are grateful to have one of the finest actors of his generation, Robert De Niro, anchoring that story and with the remarkable James Ashcroft directing,” said Angela Russo-Otstot, Chief Creative Officer at AGBO. Netflix and AGBO’s partnership has already delivered three blockbuster hits: Extraction (2020), The Gray Man (2022), and Extraction 2 (2023), all of which dominated Netflix’s Top 10 lists across 93 countries. Collectively, these films have amassed over 250 million views and more than half a billion hours watched, generating 1.38 billion social impressions. As AGBO and the Russo Brothers continue their streak of high-profile Netflix productions, their next project, The Electric State, is set to debut soon. Starring Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Pratt, Ke Huy Quan, Jason Alexander, Woody Norman, with Giancarlo Esposito and Stanley Tucci, the sci-fi adventure film is one of Netflix’s most anticipated upcoming releases.
