HBO has confirmed that its new original comedy series Rooster will premiere on Sunday, 8 March. The series will air on HBO and stream simultaneously on HBO Max, with new episodes rolling out weekly through 10 May.

The 10-episode season stars Steve Carell in the lead role, marking his return to television comedy. Set on a college campus, the show follows an author navigating a complicated relationship with his daughter, played by Charly Clive, as personal and professional tensions collide.

Alongside Carell and Clive, the ensemble cast includes Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley and Lauren Tsai.

Rooster comes from co-showrunners Bill Lawrence and Matt Tarses, who also serve as executive producers. The producing team includes Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer for Doozer, alongside Jonathan Krisel, Barbie Adler, Annie Mebane, David Stassen, Anthony King, David Hyman and Carell.

The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where both Doozer and Tarses maintain overall deals. With its mix of family dynamics, academic life and character-driven humor, Rooster is positioned as one of HBO’s major comedy launches of the spring season.
