CBS is expanding its procedural franchise by weaving its established FBI series into the upcoming spinoff CIA, with multiple characters set to move between the two shows as part of a shared storyline strategy.

Jeremy Sisto will first appear in the CIA premiere on February 23 at 10 p.m. ET/PT following a new episode of FBI, with Alana De La Garza and Missy Peregrym, who play Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille and Special Agent Maggie Bell also scheduled to appear during the season. The crossover will go both ways, as Necar Zadegan’s CIA Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard will make a visit to the FBI team.

The new series centers on by-the-book FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman, played by Nick Gehlfuss, who is assigned to a joint covert task force where he partners with Tom Ellis’ unpredictable CIA operative Colin Glass. Operating in New York, the pair navigate secret operations involving global conspiracies, terror networks and geopolitical threats while adapting to the blurred moral boundaries of espionage work. The cast also includes Natalee Linez as CIA analyst Gina Gosian.

Executive producer and showrunner Mike Weiss said the expanding cross-office collaboration reflects both storytelling ambition and production coordination across the franchise. “It’s because we have amazing line producers who keep the trains on the tracks. None of this fun world-building would be possible without amazing collaborators like our FBI producer, Amanda Slater, and CIA producer, Paul Cabbad, and the hardworking teams that support them.”

Weiss also hinted that additional crossovers could follow later in the season as the shared universe develops, suggesting the inter-agency narrative will remain a key part of the franchise’s direction moving forward.
