Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari joins the 2026 edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival as curator of the new ‘Femme Lens’ section, dedicated to showcase cinema created by women across the globe.

The category brings together international premieres, Indian films and documentaries spanning fiction and non-fiction, aiming to foreground women as storytellers rather than subjects. Among the selected titles are Peak Everything, Isola, The Portuguese House and The Remnants of You, presented alongside the festival’s Hola Spain collaboration.

The section also includes Hollywood premieres such as Mona Fastvold’s The Testament of Ann Lee and the thriller Wardriver, directed by Rebecca Thomas and starring Sasha Calle. Indian representation comes through Turtle Walker, while the Reality Bytes segment features documentaries including Baby Doe, Circusboy and the Oscar-submitted Czech film I’m Not Everything I Want to Be by Klára Tasovská. Additional entries in the Rendezvous with French Cinema strand include You Found Me and NINO.

Explaining the intent behind the showcase, Tiwari said, “Femme Lens is about celebrating women behind the camera, their gaze, their questions and their storytelling choices. These films are deeply personal, strong insights and emotionally resonant, and together they reflect the many ways women are shaping contemporary cinema across an evolving sociopolitical changing world.”

Festival director Ashish Saksena added, “With Femme Lens, we are not creating a side section, but placing women filmmakers at the heart of the festival’s curatorial identity. Ashwiny’s involvement brings both sensitivity and clarity to this vision, making the category one of the defining pillars of RLFF 2026.”

By centering female perspectives across countries and formats, the festival positions the new section as a core part of its programming rather than a standalone sidebar, reinforcing its broader push toward diverse global storytelling.
