In a significant creative reunion, composer Mithoon has teamed up once again with filmmaker Mohit Suri for an upcoming romantic drama backed by Yash Raj Films, The Hollywood Reporter has reported exclusively. The project, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, marks the duo’s latest collaboration following their long-standing partnership that has shaped some of Bollywood’s most memorable soundtracks. The film is being produced by Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, who also backed their previous hit Saiyaara. Sources indicate that Mithoon has already begun work on the music for the film, which is currently in pre-production. “It is going to be an intense love story with YRF, and the music will reflect that. There’s also buzz that the team is looking to launch a new singer with this album,” said an industry source. The Suri–Mithoon collaboration dates back to the filmmaker’s directorial debut Zeher, which featured the track “Woh Lamhe.” Over the years, the duo has delivered widely popular music for films such as Murder 2, Ek Villain, Aashiqui 2, Malang, and Half Girlfriend. Reflecting on their renewed partnership, another source said, “One can surely expect nothing short of extraordinary from this duo, especially after Saiyaara.” Speaking earlier about the new film, Suri described it as an emotionally charged love story. “So coming back with the same team from Saiyaara feels incredibly special, maybe it was always written in the stars. Reuniting … coming back home .. but with a renewed creative hunger. This time I feel like a newcomer… excited, anxious about this story and I hope my music will again touch people like I have always strived for through my films,” he said. Their last collaboration, Saiyaara, proved to be a massive commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing love story in Indian cinema with ₹338 crore nett in India and approximately ₹580 crore worldwide. Meanwhile, Padda is currently filming for Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe project Shakti Shalini, while Panday is working on a gangster drama directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, also under the YRF banner. With production underway and music already in development, the upcoming film is expected to build on the legacy of the Suri–Mithoon partnership, known for blending emotional storytelling with chart-topping soundtracks.
