Tennis player Serena Williams is elevating her game with the assistance of The Avatar. During Sunday’s NBA All-Star Game, a 30-second commercial promoting Netflix’s highly anticipated ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ showcased Williams dominating the tennis court, harnessing the elements of fire, water, earth, and air as she enters The Avatar State. This Netflix live-action series is an adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series, set in a world divided into four nations: the Water Tribes, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Individuals known as “Benders” possess the ability to telekinetically manipulate and control their corresponding element, utilizing movements inspired by Chinese martial arts. The “Avatar” stands as the sole being capable of bending all four elements. Leading the cast of the series are Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko. The series premieres on Netflix on 22nd February. Albert Kim, known for his work on ‘Sleepy Hollow’ and ‘Nikita,’ serves as the showrunner, executive producer, and writer. Joining Kim as executive producers are Dan Lin and Lindsey Liberatore from Rideback, as well as Jabbar Raisani and Michael Goi. Directing the series are Michael Goi, Roseanne Liang, Jabbar Raisani, and Jet Wilkinson.
