Horror fans, get ready for the UK’s largest horror film festival, FrightFest next month. The festival is returning to London with an extensive selection of chilling movies. From 22-26 August, the festival will take over the ODEON Luxe on Leicester Square, showcasing sixty-nine features from around the globe. Since its debut in 2000, FrightFest has grown significantly each year. This year’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest, marking the festival’s 25th anniversary, will occupy all seven screens at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square, including the two ODEON Luxe West End screens. “We’re thrilled to be hosting FrightFest at the iconic ODEON Luxe Leicester Square for its 25th-anniversary event,” said Bill Brock, Event Manager at ODEON Cinemas Group. “We share FrightFest’s passion for this genre and are honoured to be hosting the event. As our most famous cinema location and the home of UK premieres, we can’t wait for guests to brave and enjoy five days of fantasy and horror stories in our luxurious OLLS screens.” FrightFest 2024 will feature sixty-nine films from 11 countries, including twenty-five main screen premieres and forty-five Discovery Screen titles. Among these, 28 films will have their world premiere at the festival, offering attendees an exclusive first look at some of the most anticipated horror films. The festival will kick off with the world premiere of Broken Bird, a full-length adaptation of an original story by Tracey Sheals. Directed by actress/filmmaker Joanne Mitchell, the film follows a mortician whose dark desires spiral out of control. FrightFest will close with the English premiere of The Substance, a Cannes 2024 award-winning film starring Demi Moore as a fading celebrity who uses a dangerous substance to rejuvenate herself. In addition to the feature films, FrightFest will also showcase short films, panels, and discussions. Special events are planned to celebrate the festival’s 25th anniversary. “FrightFest, the Dark Heart of Cinema, has been beating loud and proud now for an amazing 25 years,” said FrightFest Co-director Alan Jones. “An incredible quarter of a century that has seen major challenges and transformations to the global film industry that FrightFest has embodied, embraced and emblazoned. Our past 25 glorious years have shown FrightFest in a state of continuous evolution, something we are determined will never, ever stop. So let the 25th Anniversary FrightFest begin.” The full festival and day passes are on sale now, while single film tickets will be available from noon on 20th July.
