Pan-Arab distributor Mad Solutions has acquired international rights to Tunisian filmmaker Ala Eddine Slim’s latest mystery drama, “Agora,” just ahead of its world premiere in competition at the Locarno Film Festival. “Agora” centers on the sudden return of three missing individuals to a remote Tunisian town, igniting tensions within their families and the wider community. The story follows local police inspector Fathi, who, with the help of her friend Amine, attempts to unravel the mystery behind their disappearance and unexpected return. The plot thickens with the arrival of a second inspector from the capital. The film, described by Slim in an interview with Variety as having supernatural elements, unfolds as if it were happening in the dreams of two animals – a blue dog and a black crow. Slim’s previous works, known for their minimal dialogue and atmospheric visuals, have received considerable acclaim. “The Last of Us” (2016) won the Lion of the Future Prize at Venice, while “Tlamess” (2019) was featured in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes and subsequently distributed by Mad Solutions’ Mad Distribution unit across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. “Agora” will also be distributed theatrically throughout the Arab world via Mad Distribution. Meanwhile, Mad World, the company’s recently established international sales arm, will manage sales to distributors worldwide. The cast of “Agora” includes Neji Kanaweti (“Who Do I Belong To”), Bilel Slatnia (“Dachra”), Majd Mastoura (“Hedi”), and emerging Tunisian talent Sonia Zarg Ayouna. A coproduction between French producer Julie Viez’s Cinenovo and Slim’s Exit Productions, the film received funding from various entities, including the Tunisian National Center for Cinema and Image, Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Fund, and Qatar’s Doha Film Institute. Mad Solutions co-founders Alaa Karkouti and Maher Diab expressed their enthusiasm, stating they were “excited to bring to the international market a very promising investigative drama that promises to be engaging to the last minute.” About Author SSZee Media Provider of Quality Entertainment News and Information See author's posts Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Print (Opens in new window) Print Like this:Like Loading… Related Post navigation Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in talks to star in Kristoffer Borgli’s new A24 film “The Drama” “Frozen 3” coming in 2027: Disney reveals first look at upcoming sequel
