Production has officially started on the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film, a continuation of the award-winning gangster saga that captivated audiences. Set once again in the rough streets of early 20th century Birmingham, the film will see Cillian Murphy reprise his iconic role as Tommy Shelby. The screenplay is penned by the show’s creator, Steven Knight, who also serves as producer alongside Patrick Holland, Cillian Murphy, and Guy Heeley. The film is being made in collaboration with BBC Film. Steven Knight, thrilled to begin this next chapter, said, “I’m thrilled to see the cameras rolling on this new chapter of the Peaky Blinders story, set during World War II. The country is at war, and so, of course, are our Peaky Blinders.” The film is directed by Tom Harper, known for Heart of Stone and Wild Rose. Harper spoke on the excitement surrounding the project, shared, “There’s a great feeling of anticipation and excitement amongst our outstanding cast and crew. We’re grateful to the fans for getting us to this point and believe this next chapter is going to deliver something extraordinary.” Joining Cillian Murphy in the star-studded cast are Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and BAFTA-winner Barry Keoghan. Further casting details remain under wraps for now. The film promises to dive deeper into the world of the Shelby family as they navigate the chaos of World War II, offering fans a new and thrilling chapter of the Peaky Blinders saga.
