After emerging as Tamil cinema’s biggest box office success of 2026 so far, Suriya-starrer Karuppu is preparing for its next chapter. Amazon Prime Video has announced that the fantasy-action drama will make its global streaming debut on 12 June, bringing the blockbuster to audiences across more than 200 countries and territories. Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu blends mythology, courtroom drama and commercial action into a story that places Suriya in an unusual dual role. The actor portrays Vettai Karuppu, a revered folk guardian deity who assumes human form as a lawyer to challenge a corrupt legal system accused of exploiting the underprivileged. The film also stars Trisha Krishnan and Indrans, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar. The streaming release comes roughly a month after the film’s theatrical debut and will be available in its original Tamil version, alongside Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada dubbed versions. Telugu-speaking audiences will be able to watch a specially titled version, Veerabhadrudu. The film has enjoyed a remarkable run at the box office. While Indian box office figures are not officially audited, industry reports estimate that Karuppu has grossed more than ₹300 crore worldwide since its release on 15 May. The performance has reportedly made it Suriya’s highest-grossing film to date and placed it among a select group of Tamil films to cross the ₹300-crore milestone globally. Reflecting on the film’s success, Suriya said, “I am truly humbled by the immense love and appreciation Karuppu has received at the box office.” Producer S R Prabhu credited the film’s strong audience connection to its blend of cultural roots and mainstream entertainment appeal. He said the film “celebrates the spirit of rooted storytelling while delivering the scale and emotion of a truly commercial entertainer,” and expressed confidence that it will “enjoy the same blockbuster success on streaming that it enjoyed in theaters.” Prime Video executives also highlighted the platform’s long-standing association with the actor, whose acclaimed titles Jai Bhim and Soorarai Pottru have previously found audiences through the service. Speaking about the latest collaboration, Manish Menghani, Director and Head of Content Licensing at Prime Video India, said, “Prime Video has been the preferred home to some of Suriya’s most acclaimed and impactful movies. With Karuppu, we continue this association, delivering larger-than-life storytelling, high-octane action, and intense performances from powerhouse talent.” About Author SSZee Media Provider of Quality Entertainment News and Information See author's posts Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Print (Opens in new window) Print Like this:Like Loading… Related Post navigation Ram Charan’s Peddi Mints Rs 292.5 Crore Worldwide in Four Days Andre Holland Leads Hulu’s Boxing Drama ‘They Fight’; Trailer Unveiled Ahead of Tribeca Premiere
